About Stafford Preparatory School

‘Parents express high levels of satisfaction with the education the school offers.
They like the range of subjects taught and the values the school seeks to promote.’

(Independent Schools’ Inspectorate – February 2009)

Stafford Preparatory School provides an excellent all round education for children between the ages of 7 and 11.

Lessons are taught principally by specialist Key Stage 2 teachers, with Stafford Grammar School staff teaching subjects such as design technology, music, ICT, P.E. and modern foreign languages. Science is taught in a fully equipped laboratory.

Admission to Stafford Prep is based on an informal assessment conducted in a small group or on an individual basis. Children spend a morning/day in school during which time they are tested in English and mathematics.

Pupils in Year 6 are prepared mainly for the entrance examination for Stafford Grammar School, but also for other selective senior schools.

During Stafford Prep’s first four years, the children have achieved some spectacular successes on the sporting front winning over forty trophies locally and nationally.  All pupils have two weekly PE/Games sessions and these are supplemented with a full programme of extra curricular activities, both sporting and non sporting. Year 5 children go on a three day residential trip to the Kingswood Centre in Flintshire and Year 6 pupils spend a week at Towers Outdoor Education Centre in Capel Curig. There is also the opportunity to learn one of a range of musical instruments with visiting music teachers.

Our aim is to give our pupils an exciting and challenging primary education which will give them an enthusiasm for learning and prepare them for life at senior school in the best possible way.
