Christmas - A Magical Time of Year

Christmas is a busy but wonderful time in school. Here at SPS our celebrations began in earnest on December 7th, when Years 3 & 4 proudly presented 'Hosanna Rock', a lively and uplifting retelling of the Nativity. The 6th Form Centre proved to be the ideal venue with the children singing, acting and dancing so well to a large and appreciative audience. The costumes were spectacular too!

The PTA Christmas Fair on December 9th saw six classrooms and the 6th Form Common Room packed with festive stalls and attractions. Choir and Dance Club performed and refreshments were served. All together over £700 was raised towards, with £70 of that donated to Miss Scholes for the purchase of items for her to take for the Kenyan children she is going to visit in 2012.

The SPS Christmas Concert in L1/L2 on December 12th was standing room only. Each class sang a seasonal song - Year 5 in French! - and the Choir and Orchestra performed too.

The Choir was out in force again on December 14th to entertain shoppers and stall holders at Penkridge Market. The 12 Days of Christmas, complete with posters was a particular hit. £71 was colledcted for Katherine House Hospice in Stafford.

Term ended with the magnificent joint SGS/SPS Carol Service in St Mary's Church in Stafford on December 16th. The SPS Choir and readers did the Prep School proud and the service as a whole was a fitting way to bring a long but successful term to a close.
