SPRING TERM 2017

17 March 2017

Dear Parents,

There is a flyer with the newsletter regarding the Easter Egg Bingo on March 31st.

SPS Photography Competition

All entries have now been submitted to Mrs Booth and these will be judged by Mrs Colman.  There will be a prize giving assembly for winners on Friday, 31st March.

NSPCC – Wednesday 22nd March

Children are to come to school wearing pyjamas in aid of the NSPCC on Wednesday.  There will be a fun run during the day and children will need to change into a ‘super hero’ costume or their PE kit.  Children are not to wear their pyjamas for the fun run.  Please can sponsorship forms and money be handed in after the event.

Newcastle Festival – Friday 24th March

The SPS choir will be heading off after school on Friday to sing in the Newcastle Festival. Children will travel from school by coach and should be picked up by parents from Clayton Hall Academy, Clayton Lane, Clayton, ST5 3DN at 7.15pm. Our ‘class’ starts at 6pm with parents welcome to watch.  Please can children remember to bring in their packed tea, which we they will eat before we leave for Clayton.

SGS Easter Concert – Monday 27th March

The Grammar School will be holding its annual 'Easter Concert' on Monday 27th March. Tickets are priced at £5 and are available to purchase on the night.  The concert starts at 7pm in the Sports Hall. If you haven’t been to an SGS concert I can guarantee you a fabulous evening!

Year 5 & 6 PE & Games

Due to the increasing number of pupils coming to school on PE/Games days in incorrect uniform or kit, we have decided that all pupils are to arrive in school dressed in their uniform on these days with their PE/Games kits in their bags. The children will change prior to the lesson.  This is with immediate effect please

Short Reports

At the end of term, KS2 children will come home with short reports comprising effort and attainment grades in all subjects with a short comment in English, mathematics and science. In KS1 children will have a brief report for Literacy and Numeracy as well as a general comment.

Due to the Newcastle Festival next Friday, 24th March, there will be no chess or football clubs after school.

In a chess match against Leasowes on Monday evening our SPS team won a close encounter by 9 points to 6.

Sports Report

In the Y3/Y4 Tag Rugby at Manor High on Wednesday, we were victorious in a competition involving ten schools. We go forward now to represent Stafford in the area final at Keele. In the ISA Midlands tag, held here earlier in the week, our U9 team won the silver medal in the plate competition.

Our U11 runners ran well again in the Stone Common race on Tuesday. Daisy Aspinall was the clear winner in the U11 girls’ event. There is one more race in the competition which will be held on Cannock Chase at Marquis Drive on Tuesday.

Last Friday our U9 footballers beat Tettenhall College 3-1 in a fixture played here.
