SUMMER TERM 2017

19 May 2017

Dear Parents,

Various trip letters attached for the second half of term:-

  • Y2 Narrowboat Cruise
  • Y3 trip to Warwick Castle
  • Y4 Outdoor Adventure Day at Conkers
  • Y6 CBSO Concert at Symphony Hall, Birmingham
  • Choir Outing to Liverpool to the World Museum and ‘Wonderland’ at Empire Theatre.

Please could payment be made for each trip separately either by cash or cheque.  This will greatly help Mrs Adams and the finance department with costings. Thank you.

Two Year 6 pupils who deserve a special mention this week: Alex Degg whose story ‘True Colours’ was one of four prize winners in the Independent Schools Association national essay competition and Karina Edwards, who sang a solo (in Russian) at a concert in London to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of VE Day.

Congratulations also to all our students who achieved excellent results in recent LAMDA and music examinations.

Y6 Performance of “The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan”

Final rehearsals have been underway for the Year 6 production of ‘The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan’ on Wednesday (6MX parents to watch) and Thursday (6MY parents to watch) evenings next week at 7pm in the SGS Library Theatre, L1/L2. The rest of the school will watch the dress rehearsal on Wednesday morning at 10am. On the day of each performance, children may bring a packed tea and stay in school. Any child going home should arrive at L1/L2 no later than 6pm.

Parents’ Evenings

A reminder that 5J parents’ evening is being held on Tuesday 23rd May.  Y6 parents’ evenings are on Tuesday 6th (4pm to 8pm) and Thursday 8th (4pm – 5.30pm) June.  Please ring Mrs Adams next week to book an appointment.

Sports Results

Unfortunately, both cricket tournaments last week were postponed due to the weather. The ISA U11 tournament at Moddershall will now take place this Monday – same team, same arrangements. There is also a Y3/Y4 tournament at Milford on the same day.

Reunion Day – Saturday, June 17th

A reminder that Y6 pupils and their families are invited to this event, which includes rounders, a hog roast and live music. If you are planning to attend please return your reply slip that was sent out with the invitations a few weeks ago.

Fidget Spinners have become a nuisance so we are not allowing them in school from the start of next week.
