SUMMER TERM 2013

NEWSLETTER NO 218

17th May 2013

Dear Parents,

Preparations are at an advanced stage now for the SPS Summer Fair on Saturday, June 8th, thanks to the hard work of the PTA Committee. Please find attached an information sheet regarding the Fair from Mrs Murray.

Also enclosed are six books of raffle tickets for the Grand Prize Draw, which I hope you will sell to family and friends. You will find more information in the PTA attachment.

SPS Expansion

On Monday the governing body gave the green light for SPS to open a Reception class from September, 2014. This will be for children who have had their 4th birthday and will mean we can accommodate children for the whole of their primary education. I will give you more details in due course.

Parking

The Transport Manager and Bursar are concerned about the number of cars that are parking on double yellow lines and in the area adjacent to the playground gates at collection time. It makes it very difficult for vehicles coming down the slope to turn the corner.  Parents are welcome to park in the new compound area if there are no spaces by the sports hall or in the bays by the prep school/science building.

NSPCC Visit

On Tuesday, School Council members (Years 3 – 5) will spend the morning at the NSPCC centre in Newcastle. SPS will be the first school to make a visit and it is in recognition of the large amount of money raised for the NSPCC on our sponsored fun run last term.

‘Porridge’ - Y6 Play: Thursday, May 23rd at 7pm

Rehearsals have been going well for the Y6 play and the children have been working extremely hard. There will be a dress rehearsal on Thursday afternoon and a performance for parents at 7pm.  Cast members are welcome to stay at school at the end of the day and bring a packed tea. Any children going home will need to be back here for 6.15pm. The evening performance will finish by 8.30pm. Miss Martin has asked the children to come to school on Tuesday and Thursday in PE kit.
