NEWSLETTER NO 364

7 April 2017

Dear Parents,

Parental Survey

In the Easter Holidays Stafford Grammar School and Stafford Preparatory School will be carrying out an on-line parental survey.  This is mainly based upon the Independent Schools Inspectorate survey; it should only take a short time to complete and is designed to be anonymous.  The survey will be available to complete from Saturday 8th April until Sunday 23rd April at www.staffordgrammar.co.uk/survey.htm and requires the password burtonmanor2017.  Please complete one survey per pupil. Many thanks.

Find enclosed with this final newsletter of term your child’s short report. There are parents’ evenings in the summer term and details of these are outlined below.

We were delighted to welcome six new pupils to SPS on Monday: Millie Green (Y6), Louis Sandy (Y5), Chloe Sandy (Y3), Isobel and Lola Sandy (Y2) and Henry Sandy (Rec).  We hope they all enjoyed this final week of term.

The summer term is always busy; we will endeavour to keep you up to date with events in the weekly newsletter and the notice board. All dates known so far for next term will be posted on the school website on the ‘diary dates’ page: www.staffordprep.co.uk

A reminder that we start back on Tuesday, April 25th. A revised clubs list is attached.

Music

We said a final farewell to Mrs Lamplough today as she has kindly continued to run orchestra and teach on Friday afternoons this term. A big thank you to her for all she has done to promote and develop our musical endeavours in recent years. Last week we welcomed back some former SPS musicians, now at SGS, who joined our orchestra for an impromptu final concert with Mrs Lamplough. It was a lovely occasion. I would also like to thank Mrs Purkiss for the wonderful job she has done this term teaching music on Thursdays and taking the school choir. Next term we welcome Mrs Farmer who will be running the music department here at SPS from now on.

Y6 Football Tournament:  Friday, April 28th

A team sheet for footballers representing SPS in the 6 a-side tournament at Leasowes on the first Friday afternoon back is attached; there is also a copy on the noticeboard. This is the tournament that in previous years was held on a Saturday morning in March. The Year 5 and Year 4 tournaments will be on the following Fridays, May 5th and May 12th respectively. Each tournament starts at 4.15pm and finishes at 6pm. Children will be driven to Leasowes by minibus but should be collected by parents from the venue. Spectators are welcome.

The Y5 children and accompanying staff are getting excited now ahead of their trip to North Wales on 26th April.  A packing list and letter is attached with final details.
